Frequently Asked Questions

  • Absolutely! I support all births for folks in London, Ontario (in-person), and anywhere else virtually.

I'm happy to support clients that choose to birth with or without pain medication, at home or hospital, have a midwife or an OB, or are planning a vaginal or caesarean birth.

Whether it’s your first birth or your seventh - anyone can benefit from doula support!

  • No. Doulas and midwives complement each other well but we have very different and important roles. Both are great to have on your team!

Midwives are trained medical care professionals that perform clinical tasks, and monitor the health of birthers and babies in pregnancy, labour, and early postpartum. In Ontario, midwives are covered by OHIP, and you can choose to have a midwife or a doctor for your birth.

Doulas are trained non-medical supports that provide you and your family with emotional, educational, and physical support during transitions like pregnancy, birth and postpartum. We help bridge the gap in support by offering continuous care and advocacy to our clients.

  • Honestly? A ton! I help families navigate the early days, weeks, and months after your baby is born. I work with you to help build your parenting confidence and support your goals.

I provide educational, emotional, and physical support such as:

    - infant feeding and newborn care
    - sleep support for the whole family
    - light housekeeping and organizing
    - info and community resources
    - light meal prep
    - watching your little one while you nap, shower, eat, or enjoy some self care outside the home!

  • You bet! I’m a firm believer in doing what feels right for you, your mental health, and your family.

I provide encouragement, education and hands-on support while you navigate bodyfeeding and/or formula feeding.

I trust and respect your preferences, and will support you to achieve your desired goals.

  • Your partner knows you - I know birth. I have a wealth of knowledge on physiological birth, stages of labour, interventions, calming tools, and more!

Many partners have shared that they felt more cared for, present, calm, and attentive to their pregnant partner in labour because of my support. Plus, if they need a break to rest or get some air, they can relax knowing you’re not alone. Together, we make a great team!

  • Every family is different, and so are your individual needs.

I've had clients hire me for a few weeks, or for several months. I can join you when your baby is 1 day old all the way up to 1 year old!

Customized doula support when you need it most.

  • No. However, more insurance companies are providing coverage for doula services. Contact your provider for more info on their policies.

I also highly recommend adding a Support Fund to baby registries for services like doulas! Payment plans are always available for my clients, and doula support makes the best gift!

  • I know that feelings and questions can come up at any time, and I want you to feel supported.

All non-urgent communication from postpartum and off-call birth clients will be responded to within 48 hours during regular business hours (Monday to Friday 9AM to 5PM, the exception being updates from overnight clients).

If I’m on-call for your birth (from 38wks on), I can be reached 24/7. If you need me urgently (like when you’re in labour!), please call and I’ll pick up or return your call promptly.
